The objectives of IBAKM are: • To champion, promote, advance and regulate the art and science of Business Administration and Knowledge Management disciplines in all its aspects and ramifications. • To establish professional standards for the registration, membership, training, examination and certification of aspiring and practicing Business Administration and Knowledge Management professionals, practitioners and consultants. • To conduct examinations and other form of assessments for the award of the Institute’s Membership Qualifications; Doctoral Fellow-Dr./FIBAKM/FCBA/FCKM, Fellow-FIBAKM/FCBA/FCKM, Full Member-MIBAKM/MCBA/MCKM, Associate-AIBAKM/ACBA/ACKM, Graduate-GIBAKM/Grad.BA/Grad.KM, Licenitate-LIBAKM/LMBA/LMKM and Affiliate-AfIBAKM/AfMBA/AfMKM. • To establish and maintain a register of the Institute’s membership for Certified Business Administrators (CBA), Certified Knowledge Managers (CKM), Certified Business Administration Practitioners (CBAP) and Certified Knowledge Management Practitioners (CKMP). • To conduct training with a view of developing human capital in the broad fields of Business Administration and Knowledge Management and related subjects, courses and disciplines and award Certificates of Proficiency; Professional Post Graduate Diploma (IBAKM PGDip.), Professional Graduate Diploma (IBAKM GDip.), Professional Higher Diploma (IBAKM HDip.) and Professional Diploma (IBAKM Dip.). • To conduct specialized, innovative and industry-based certifications in the broad fields of Business Administration and Knowledge Management and related subjects, courses and disciplines leading to the award of the Certified Professional Manager (CPM), Certified Global Manager (CGMgr), Certified Global Management Consultant (CGMC), etc. • To organize workshops, seminars, conferences, symposia, talks, etc. with a view of promoting, advancing and championing Business Administration and Knowledge Management and related subjects, courses and disciplines and to issue certificates of attendance. • To carry out research and consultancy services in the broad fields of Business Administration and Knowledge Management and related subjects, courses and disciplines. • To liaise, partner and collaborate with institutions, organizations, establishments, etc. with a view to promoting ethical practices and professional standards in the professions. • To contribute to policy formulation at all levels, both Local, State, National and International, for the sustainability of good governance, economic growth, industrial rejuvenation, etc • To do all such other things as may be considered incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.

IBAKM offers Honorary Membership, Direct Membership, Professional Membership and Professional Diploma Proficiency Certifications. The Membership Qualifying Examinations and Professional Diploma Proficiency Certification Examinations holds in April, August and December of every year. Admissions are in January, May and September of every year while Membership Induction, Investiture and Certification Programme holds in January, May and September of every year. PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATIONS • Professional Diploma (IBAKM Dip.) – 16 Months (4 Parts including Research/Project Work) • Professional Higher Diploma (IBAKM HDip.) – 16 Months (4 Parts including Research/Project Work) • Professional Graduate Diploma (IBAKM GDip.) – 8 Months (2 Parts including Research/Project Work) • Professional Post Graduate Diploma (IBAKM PGDip.) – 12 Months (3 Parts including Research/Project Work)
It is not mandatory but advisable as all candidates are required to acquire certain level of knowledge, skill and experience in preparation for the IBAKM qualifications. Attendance at the various accredited tuition and learning centres is a core requirement for certification. Where there are no accredited learning centres, candidates are advised to opt in for the Online or the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme to enable them to adequately prepare for the examinations.
