ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP

The membership of the Institute is open for everyone to join irrespective of academic discipline or profession. Admission into the Institute membership is by qualification, experience or proof of accredited and approved apprenticeship/vocational training and education.

Candidates admitted into the Institute membership can as well obtain the Institute professional certifications to qualify as professional business administrators and knowledge managers after satisfying all necessary requirements for certification, either through exemptions or examinations in line with the Institute academic and professional development standard.

The Institute membership grades, including the honorary membership, are as follows:

  • Affiliate of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (AfIBAKM)
  • Licentiate of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (LIBAKM)
  • Graduate of the institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (GIBAKM)
  • Associate of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (AIBAKM)
  • Member of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (MIBAKM)

  • HND or equivalents in Management Science related courses with minimum of 20 years post-graduation experience.
  • HND or equivalents in Sciences, Engineering, Law and Arts related courses with minimum of 25 years post-graduation experience.
  • IBAKM FCBA/FCKM certifications.
  • Eminently qualified scholars or outstanding individuals with excellent performance at the top echelon of their career.  The Board of Governors and Governing Council may at its discretion confer the Doctoral Fellow of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (Dr./FIBAKM) on deserving individuals on their merit.
COMPANION (CIBAKM)
  • Fellows with outstanding performance who have contributed to the growth of the Institute and the BA and KM profession at large or accomplished individuals, business administrators & knowledge managers who through their position have contributed to the economic growth and sustainability of Nations and the BA and KM profession.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

The professional certifications of the Institute are earned by exemptions or examinations. It is designed for new candidates or members of the Institute who desire to advance their career as professional business administrators and knowledge managers with recognized global qualifications.

Candidates are granted exemptions on subject-by-subject basis or admitted to sit for the professional certification examinations based on the Institute approved academic and professional development standard for education, training and certification.

Candidates who satisfactorily complete the Institute professional certification examinations or those who have completed the exemption process as required can as well be inducted as members of the Institute and shall be entitled to the use of both the membership and professional certifications suffixes; Fellow (FIBAKM, FCBA, FCKM), Member (MIBAKM, MCBA, MCKM), Associate (AIBAKM, ACBA, ACKM), Graduate (Grad.BA, Grad.KM, GIBAKM), Licentiate (LIBAKM, LMBA, LMKM) and Affiliate (AfIBAKM, AfMBA, AfMKM).
